Permission Marketing : Turning Strangers Into Friends And Friends Into Customers by Seth Godin

This is a short read, but it was a good read. In this book, Godin argues that businesses can no longer rely on traditional types of advertising. For example, we see businesses everyday advertise their products on TV, in Newspapers, on the Radio and across several other mediums. I myself think small and large businesses should rely on many of these types of advertising and believe it is very important so one could argue that I don't totally agree with Godin on this issue. However, that is not the case here as I see exactly where Godin is going with

How to Win at the Sport of Business: If I Can Do It, You Can Do It by Mark Cuban

Excellent book! Mark Cuban is a neat guy, this book is more of a collection of his blog posts on different stages throughout his life. He tells us a lot about when he when he was in college he would party all the time and opened his own bar when he was less than 21 years of age. The guy really is a true entrepreneur. He tells us some stories about how when he was getting started he would spend the night at friends places and sometimes there wasn't even a couch to sleep on. He worked for a variety

Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

Very, very good book. Gladwell talks about a number of fascinating things in this book and has many stories to tell, each one of them appealing. You get enthralled in this book because as you read on you know exactly what he is getting at with judgement, perceptions, and actions. He talks about rapid cognition which is a fascinating subject. Rapid cognition is the sort of snap decision-making performed without thinking about how one is thinking, faster and often more correctly than the logical part of the brain can manage. Additionally, he talks about thin slicing – another fascinating subject.

Greedy Bastards: How We Can Stop Corporate Communists, Banksters, and Other Vampires from Sucking America Dry by Dylan Ratigan

Absolutely love Dylan Ratigan, he was great as the host Fast Money and he is great on The Dylan Ratigan show as well. This is an excellent book and it shows us just how corrupt our society is. There are many things Ratigan would like to fix about this country. Here are some of the issues Ratigan touches on in this book and my own thoughts about what should be fixed after reading this book: Health care system would be abolished and doctors would get report cards (much like they do in Europe) that would adjust their pay accordingly. Once

The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick) by Seth Godin

Godin delivers again, this is a very good book. It analyzes why people quit, why some people should quit to get ahead, and why they eventually quit. They get stuck in the Dip. Ever feel like quitting? For example quitting a job, a relationship, maybe even an occupation. Everyone eventually goes through this and is better off for going through with it. What circumstances are you willing to quit and when? Are you going to saty in that dead end job forever? Some of the most successful business people quit everyday and plan to quit certain initiatives, investments, etc. Today
