Antigua and St. Johns

Antigua and St. Johns were magical places and I would definitely go back sometime soon. My wife and I stayed all-inclusive at Halycon Cove resorts from 11/21-11/28 and we absolutely loved it. I would give it 4 stars out of five. This resort and island is owned by the British and it seems as if it's mainly marketed to people in Europe, I would say 75% of the people we met were from London. Really nice people that were a lot of fun and great to party with. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is we thought the food could have been a bit better. The views were absolutely serene and we were right on the Ocean. Sandals and Coconut Grove were neighboring resorts. The resort had a restaurant on the water (you had to pay extra for most items and could only go twice every seven days you stayed all-inclusive) that was amazing and had great views of the sunsets. Here is a picture of a rainbow I took from our resort!

On one day we took an excursion on a boat that circled the island from about 9-4. It was absolutely stunning, fantastic, and beautiful. We saw everything on the island from the water including an inhabited island with an active Volcano (Montserrat Soufriere Hills Volcano). I guess about 4,000 people still live there.

Another fun adventure was being able to see Nelson's Dockyard. Wow, it was the best dockyard

I have ever seen – and the boats, ahh the boats. Let's just say it would be fun to have enough disposable income to own one of those toys.

Shirley Heights was a big party. The place was overrun with tourists. This is the only time during the whole trip I saw a lot of people in one spot, most of the trip was quiet and relaxed. I absolutely loved the reggae band. It was so much fun to be care free on vacation listening to great reggae music with a beer in your hand.

We did venture into St. John's for a day of shopping which was very fun. We absolutely loved it, and found some great places I want to tell you about. First of all there is an ultra-hip wine bar in the heart of St. Johns called C&C's wine bar. It's a very small place, but cozy and they have great food and drink and karaoke on most nights too. We visited this place twice we liked it so much! Hemingway's Caribbean cafe did a mean lobster salad, we had lunch there during our shopping excursion.

As for the beach, there was one restaurant we visited twice as well. It was called Pepperz and Lime and I have to give a big shout out to this place for having delicious ceviche! I loved Antigua and hope to go back again!
